Do you find yourself having just a couple of go-to characters? Do you use the same names over and over? Then, this intensive will help you invent an abundance of characters quickly! Through improv exercises and techniques, we'll explore several tools including names, point of view, what the character is holding, vocal techniques, physicality and more. Not only will you discover characters you want to keep bringing to the stage, you'll set yourself up for day 2 where you can take your favorite characters and write the rest of the story!

Have you improvised characters that you love and want to hang onto? Would you like to expand those improvisations into scripted solo sketches and monologues? This intensive will provide you with a fun and useful overview of the fundamentals of scripting your comedy characters. Through comedy writing games and exercises - and a supportive writers room environment - we’ll explore comic flaw, game, point-of-view, and solo sketch structure for your comic characters. You’ll gain valuable and repeatable character writing techniques that you can use for your sketch shows, solo shows, social media, and more!
