Curious about improv? Each week Queen City Comedy offers a fun, "learn through laughing" approach to building improv skills! Each Saturday, we’ll explore a key improv principle through simple games and exercises, while you build confidence and creativity. Whether you have improv experience and want to build new skills, or you are new and ready to learn — just bring yourself and a willingness to laugh and play!
About Your Instructor: April Kirby is a North Carolina improviser through and through and has performed across the state for over a decade. She performs with the award-winning Capital City Culture Club in Raleigh and Now Are the Foxes in Charlotte. You can also find her performing at Monopoly Life Size with Blumenthal Performing Arts. She loves to share in the joy of improv and some of the tools she has picked up on her journey!

One-Day Improv & Acting Workshop
A feedback-driven workshop for actors and improvisers who want to grow fast. Spend the day diving into your scene work through focused, personalized feedback and active exploration. This hands-on workshop gives you the opportunity to perform, receive direct notes, and refine your instincts as a performer. Discover how you show up in your scenes — through your choices, patterns, and presence — and learn how subtle “nudges” can elevate your authenticity and connection on stage.
Course Overview
In this workshop, you’ll explore how to make bolder, more grounded choices and deepen your emotional awareness in every scene. You’ll receive detailed feedback on your performance, gain insight into your personal tendencies, and learn strategies to strengthen your listening, responsiveness, and truthfulness in the moment.

Wanna perform IMPROV as a duo and PERFORM? Don't know where to get started? Need a Partner & a stage? Then grab your favorite improviser and sign up for this one-day intensive workshop.
Overview
You’ll be introduced to 3 forms, share insights on being a giving scene partner, and be coached to your skill set.
Perform at 7pm that night!
The intensive workshop is 4.5 hours long and will prepare duos for the stage.
You’ll learn how to support and play with only one partner.
You’ll discover how to balance multiple characters.
Sign up for one intensive to sign up for both dates and double your duo class time.
But wait there’s more…You can even sign up for a private coaching session as a follow-up to this duo intensive.
